Well I'm getting down to buisness, arent I? I'm the master. Mmmmhhmm.
Okay, well, this is Sweet lolita and Kawaii.
Lolita is very very very very very extravagant and cute and fluffy. Basically, lolita is wearing ballgowns and cute fluffy petticoat-dresses every day, just being casual. Thats what I love about it, you look fancy, but your not really going anywhere fancy.
I'm focusing more on Sweet Lolita. The colors Sweet Lolita's wear are usually pastels, or bright colors. Brown is acceptable sometimes, if pared with a pastel. Black is usually for Goth lolita, but you could be sweet and wear black too. :3
Lolita girls usually have curly hair, in pigtails or down. Straight hair is acceptable too, but I suggest you put it in pig tails. Straight bangs (about to your eyebrows) frame the face beautifully.
There is a certain dye job called a split color. (I'm not being real technical, but yeah.) Split Color is where one half of your hair is one color and the other is a different color. (I suggest wigs instead of acutally dying your hair, becuase if its purple and pink and you want to wear yellow and green one day, you would look totally off. A good wig site for split colors would be: http://gothiclolitawigs.com/ they also have a wide variety of other kinds of wigs. Ive found this site to be very good quality and I love the wigs there, so I give it 2 thumbs up.
Anyway, If you want to be lolita, you should really think about your life style. Lolita's like to be really carefree and happy, like the clothes they wear. Like reliving (or creating) a happy childhood. Whenever I think oof lolita, I think of Alice In Wonderland. Because I think of dressing up for an Un-Birthday Party Tea Party. :3 (By the way, Alice in Wonderland is the best book in the world.) I definantly do not suggest buying lolita wigs (or any wigs, really) from costume wig sites (like BuyCostumes or PartyCity) because the wigs will come unnaturally shiny and prestyled. You want be able to partt it or style it yourself. Also, i have ordered certain wigs from certain party sites and have found that the wigs come litterally smooshed into a plastic bag.
Some characters you may wantt to consider adding to your accesories are Hello Kitty, Kerroppi, Sentimental Circus, and Rilakkuma.
A lot of hand made lolita things can be found on http://etsy.com/. Alot of the things on there are handmade and there may be only one in stock, and if they seem overpriced, please remember that people put a lot of time and effort (and money!) into making those products, so its actually pretty reasonable.
Kawaii is very much the same, only you dont have to wear dresses. (you dont with lolita eaithr, but its kind of important :/) Kawaii means cute in Japanese, so just be cute! Wear pink blush, light makeup, maybe some lipgloss. I dunno. :P Depends on if you like makeup, I guess. But kawaii uses a lot of Japanese street style (Harajuku) and a LOT of Japanese inspired characters. You know what I love seeing on Kawaiis? Cute little fruits! Agh! Fruits are just plain adorable (and good for you too). Ice cream, cupcakes, popsicles, and pretty much any cute junkfood is acceptable too ^__^.
I hope this helped you! I'm sorry if it wasnt as accurate as you had wanted, I tried explaining it simply.
Not beeing all like, H5n4*+jKj9=767Kawaii...
Stay lovely, Lolitas!
Stay cute, Kawaiis!
